The lovely bud, so young, so fair
Called off by earthy doom,
Just came to show how sweet a flower
In paradise could bloom…
Founding Partner of Hanrick Curran, Shane Curran, and his wife Janet dedicated the beautiful poem above for their daughter Jane, and did so with a heavy heart. After finishing Grade 12 at Indooroopilly State High School and not long after turning 17, Jane had taken her life.
Parents often have a tough time saying goodbye to their children as they send them off into the work force as a young adult. Having to say a sad and permanent goodbye to loved ones, especially one of your children, would be devastating.
The tragedy of Youth Suicide is one that affects families in Australia every single day, with the suicide rates for 15 to 24-year-olds at the highest they have been in 10 years. Although there are organisations that try their best to help, resources are limited. It’s for this reason Hanrick Curran has pledged to support The Curran Family in raising awareness for Youth Suicide and Kids Helpline.
Kids Helpline is Australia’s only free 24/7, confidential and private counselling service specifically for children and young people aged 5 to 25 years. Since March 1991, young Australians have been contacting Kids Helpline about a wide range of issues; from everyday topics such as family, friends and school to more serious issues of child abuse, bullying, mental health issues, drug and alcohol use, homelessness and suicide.
The 130 volunteer counsellors for youth counselling are trained and qualified to help as much as they possibly can. The counsellors take each person seriously, providing the utmost level of importance and support they could need. To keep such organisations going requires funding, and these are severely limited.
To raise funds to support this wonderful organisation and make sure calls for help don’t go unanswered please click here to donate and share this information with your friends and family. The more we can raise awareness around Youth Suicide, the bigger difference it makes for our future generations.
Shane, Janet and Christopher Curran together with the Hanrick Curran team thank you for your support.
Kids Helpline is a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) so all donations over $2 attract a tax deduction. Further giving options are available in our Guide to Tax Effective Giving to assist you in supporting this cause.
