FINANCIAL mODELLING NETWORKING EVENT
Precision & Accuracy in Big data Modelling: Traffic Planning using Power Pivot
On 18 April, Hanrick Curran will host the Brisbane Financial Modelling Meet-up Group’s Precision & Accuracy in Big Data Modelling: Traffic Planning using Power Pivot event.
Over 55,000 vehicles use the AirportlinkM7 tolling motorway daily, and the business intelligence system involves the use of Excel, Power Pivot and Tableau. Billing precision is a critical part of the tolling system and traffic reporting process, which is performed with 99.9% accuracy on 30 million transactions per year.
Hear from Brisconnections’ Senior Analyst and Business Modeller, Christopher Schuck, who will explain how his team use big data modelling to make projections, identify and monitor improvements. Chris has a MBA and a maths degree, is a certified chartered accountant and business analyst and has been with Brisconnections for nearly 4 years. AirportlinkM7 is a 6.7km, multi-lane, free-flow tolling motorway and tunnel located on the north side of Brisbane, and has been operating since July 2012.
The 45 minute presentation will cover:
- Overview of the AirportlinkM7 business model from roadside to cash and the processing phases involved
- How Excel models are used in planning and reporting and how this is integrated into the daily, weekly and monthly reporting for the toll road
- The strategic alignment of the business to Business Intelligence reporting and performance framework, and the dashboards and data mining performed using PowerPivot and Tableau
This event is a great opportunity to network with other modellers so don't forget your business cards!
