On the 12th June 2017, Hanrick Curran hosted 23 Papua New Guinea small business owners, training and delegation coordinators as arranged by their Brisbane host Michael Johnson, Kokoda Capital.
Hanrick Curran have strong ties to the PNG region with a long history of delivering advisory services to PNG private, expatriate and government clients. It was our pleasure to have the opportunity to contribute to the professional development of the delegates during their immersion in Brisbane.
Following on from a breakfast Q&A with Paul White, CEO Broncos, we arranged for one of our Hanrick Curran Business Advisers to facilitate a workshop titled The 7 Steps to Start-Up Success, which was supported by a printed guide and intended to have application across industries and current business maturity.
The workshop highlighted the importance of balancing initial enthusiasm for a new idea with a structured process to determine if the right underlying factors are present to take a particular business idea through to business success.
Based on many years of experience with start-up businesses Hanrick Curran developed a seven step assessment guide entrepreneurs can follow to help find those diamonds in the rough.
Step 1: What problem is being solved?
Step 2: Does solving that problem create value?
Step 3: Defining the market and its size
Step 4: Assessing the competition
Step 5: Will the business be financially viable
Step 6: Is the ‘go to market’ strategy feasible
Step 7: Do you have the right team?
